DIY Clip-in Extensions

Clip-ins are a number one ‘must have item’ on a girls list of fashion needs for either a school formal, debutante ball, special occasion or just the desire to have longer hair.
Our Lightweight clip-ins offer you instant longer, fuller and more gorgeous hair so you may achieve the style you have always dreamed of, being either an up-style or hair-left-down in gorgeous curls, with no damage to your own hair.
The clip-ins may be worn all day and all night, however, they must be removed before sleeping. Some people wear clip-ins just for a “night out on the town” and others will wear them every day to work. This illustrates the versatility of our type of hair extension.
And let’s face it, fashion trends are constantly changing but clip-ins have remained an item that will always be needed no matter what outfit we wear.
For years our clip-ins have made our clients extremely happy with the price, the quality of the hair, the non-fade colour and the non-slip clips.
Transform your short, thin hair into long, full, luxurious hair in as little as 10 min.

How to Fit your Extensions

Please note that there are easy to follow step by step instruction on the back of package with pictures.
Our set of clip-ins consists of eight individual wefts of human hair in varying widths from two – to eight inches, shaped to conform to your head.
  • Starting at the nape of the neck, the hair is sectioned.
  • The weft is then placed onto this section with the non slip clips open, facing the scalp.
  • Each clip is then simply snapped into the hair above or below the section (depending on the style you choose to wear) starting in the middle and working your way towards the ends of each weft.
  • Should you desire the clips to have an especially firm grip, you may lightly backcomb or twist each section of your hair.
  • This is repeated until each clip on the weft is in place.
  • It is easiest to style both your own hair and the hair extensions before fitting them to your head.
  • May be flat-ironed & curled

How to Colour Your Extensions

If you ordered the clip-in extensions and you want to colour them, have it done professionally. They should only be professionally darkened (no more than two shades darker) and not lightened.  When colouring your Clip-ins, your stylist should completely saturate the extensions to prevent an uneven result.

Maintenance Guide

  • Before washing your Clip-ins, brush them gently with a boar bristle brush to help detangle the ends.
  • Always start from the ends and work towards the clips.
  • Ensure that the snap clips are closed to avoid tangling.
  • To wash your Clip-ins, fill the basin with warm water.  Place one of our shampoos (we recommend our Rehydrate Shampoo) in the water.
  • Immerse the Clip-ins in the basin, slowly and gently swish. DO NOT RUB HAIR!
  • Empty the soapy water and gently rinse the shampoo out with warm water.
  • Using a towel gently blot excess water. NO NOT RUB THE HAIR with a towel. Use a towel to absorb the excess water by blotting the hair gently
  • Using a wide tooth comb, gently comb Internationals’ desired conditioner through the hair, starting at the ends, working towards the clips. Leave for 5 min, then rinse in warm water.
  • Clip-ins do not receive natural scalp oils and need to be conditioned after every wash.
  • Avoid regular washing & use a leave in conditioning lotion before styling to prevent hair from splitting.
  • Close the clips after removal to prevent the hair from tangling in the clips.

Swimming

It is not recommended that you expose your Clip-ins to chlorinated and / or salt water. If you do, we recommend that you wash and condition your Clip-ins IMMEDIATELY after, as the chemicals may damage the hair. DO NOT allow chemicals to remain in your extensions for any length of time – you wouldn’t do that to your own hair!

Sleeping

It is not recommended that you sleep with your Clip-ins in, as you will shorten the life p of the clips. However if you do, we suggest that you tie them up in a ponytail or in a braid. DO NOT SLEEP ON WET HAIR.

Tips

  • Treat your Clip-ins with as much care as your own hair.
  • We recommend that you use our maintenance products
  • Between washes, we recommend you use a spray-on / leave-in conditioner.
  • Remember no scrubbing or rubbing the hair.
